Ascona Prize for Medical Students

The Foundation Psychosomatic and Social Medicine introduces together with the International Balint Federation (IBF, an Award for Medical Students every second year.

Papers must be in English. They should describe a student-patient relationship, an experience, or experiences, from the student's medical studies and include critical reflection on personal meetings with patients showing the biopsychosocial approach.

The papers should be between 3,000 and 10,000 words. 

Prize monies of SFR 5,000 are available for the authors of the best three essays.

The awards will be presented at the the International Balint Congresses, where the winners give a short presentation of their essays.

The next presentation will be at the 21st International Balint Congress in Porto/Portugal, September 10 to 15, 2019.
